LOCATIONHacienda San Benito Subdivision, Lipa, Batangas
SIZE230 square meters
YEAR2008

Due to the “farm architecture” theme of the subdivision, the brief called for a structure that echoes this kind of aesthetic, at the same time projecting a Filipino character.  Conceived as a simple “terrace” where visitors can experience the famous Barako coffee of Lipa, a thatched roof was situated on top of it to shelter the users from the elements. This shed along with its structural supports were strategically skewed diagonally to create a unique kind of perception of the space within. This strategy achieves a contemporary design, even if the selection of materials were very traditional.
